MISSIONARY LITERATURE CIRCULATING

Missionary literature has been circulating throughout the Flatbush and Boro Park neighborhoods over this past month. Many people have reported receiving the book “Ten Amazing Jews – They Thought for Themselves” in their mailbox. The book is written by Sid Roth, a well-known figure in the “Jews for J” organization. This book appears to contain many Jewish references, and may thus be misconstrued as legitimate. However, as the numerous negative reviews on Amazon.com clearly indicate, the book is a deceitful attempt to proselytize gullible or ignorant Jews. One reviewer wrote: “As a Jew, this book is completely insulting to my way of life and my religion. Mr. Roth is no Jew. He is a Christian… I'm sure that his god would be disappointed in him that he's lying to the public by putting a Jewish face on a book that is about those who really follow [another religion]…”

While such material may not pose a serious threat to those with a solid Jewish education, the book can be very harmful to children or unaffiliated Jews. Residents are advised to be on the lookout for this and other missionary material to ensure that it does not end up in their homes and in the hands of their children.
