TOO MUCH WORK TAKES ITS TOLL

By: Dave Gordon

Working three to four hours more a day was seen to increase the risk of a heart attack by one and a half times in contrast to those who work regular eight hour days, according to the European Heart Journal. In other studies, those who worked overtime had more hypertension, sleep deprivation, irritability and depression. Workaholics are also at risk for family conflict, fatigue and sore muscles. Researchers find that those who overwork themselves also are too focused on their jobs, often ignoring the signs of overwork, and even ignore illnesses, which may aggravate various symptoms.
