Going for the Gold in Jewish Education

First Lady Michelle Obama’s project to get kids to eat well and exercise will allow more than two-thirds of New York City’s public school students to get more nutritious free or low-cost school lunches. President Obama signed the $4.5 billion Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which expands the free lunch program and requires the provision of better nutrition. About 680,000 out of 1.1 million New York children participate in the lunch program. The changes include New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand’s measure that ensures schools will be notified about recalled or contaminated food.
