Clergy and community leaders gathered on Tuesday April 3rd at 1 Police Plaza to discuss the security plan that would be in place at Jewish institutions over the holiday season. In light of new threats by Al Qaeda to target New York, as well as reported incidents of suspicious people videotaping synagogues on Ocean Parkway, the police have stepped up security in the area, taking especially vigilant measures during holiday time.
Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly addressed the audience and discussed the ever present threat from Iran and its surrogate Hezbollah. Israel and the U.S., and New York in particular, are believed to be primary targets for Iranian sponsored terror, especially given the possibility of preemptive strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities in the near future.
Other key officials in attendance included, NYPD Community Affairs Inspector Amin Kosseim, Detective Dominic Scotto, Rabbi Uziel Admoni and Police Chaplain David Heskiel.
